Marsha's Tea Room
TGNC health and awareness
Mission
Marsha's Tea Room is a trans led nonprofit organization centered on promoting the overall health and well-being of Transgender and Gender Nonconforming People. We are located within Spectrum: The Other Clinic. Spectrum specializes in hormone therapy for the Mississippi TGNC community. The owners of Spectrum recognized the many needs of the TGNC community and started Marsha’s as a means to help. Marsha's is meant to be a safe space for members of the TGNC community and allies. Our main objective is to promote the health and welfare of the transgender community through our outreach programs.
Purpose
Marsha's Tea Room: Sylvia's Porch
Marsha's purpose is to provide a safe space for Mississippi's transgender community through our outreach programs. Our first effort was a physical safe place where the TGNC community can hang out, learn more about our programs and take advantage of community resources. Resources including legal, healthcare, HIV, garments (packers/binders) and anything else you need.
Why?
It's the right thing to do. Marsha P. Johnson protested in 1970 as a counterprostester at the Gay Liberation Front protest at Bellevue Hospital for transgender rights. How far have we come as a society to recognize transgender rights as human rights?
Transgender Education
What does it mean to be transgender?
What is the difference between gender identity vs sexual orientation?
What should I do if my child says that they may be transgender or nonbinary?

Our Association with Spectrum: The Other Clinic
Spectrum: The Other Clinic
The owners of Spectrum founded Marsha's as a means to help our at risk patients. We soon realized that not only our patients, but the transgender community as a whole are at risk. We hope that our efforts can make a difference and we can help Mississippi's transgender community be healthier and safer.
